Swimming Lessons is the work of 24-year-old Ben Lewis. And, since he’s a solo artist working under a band name, it’s meant that lazy journalists have tarnished him with the old “bedroom producer” tag. But, unlike the majority of bedroom producers who crap themselves when playing to more than twelve people, Ben blossoms around the idea of a live performance.It’s an organically live sound that’s clearly at the forefront of his latest track “Double”, which sees him craft together a concoction of soaring choruses and liquidised soundscapes, creating something that sounds much closer to a hazy, mid-afternoon climatic festival set, rather than the sounds of a murky bedroom in Leeds.
