Tennyson Made a Song and it Samples the 'Car Door Ajar' Beep

The brother-sister duo is barely out of their teens but already making great music.

There's a litany of odd objects that artists have sampled to create fantastic songs out of. The Troggs sampled an ocarina for "Wild Things", Jackyl sampled a chainsaw for "The Lumberjack", and Nike made a beat out of dribbling basketballs and squeaky shoes. But would anyone ever think of turning something as benign as the chime that alerts you that your car door is ajar into a song? Tennyson has risen to that challenge, creating a beautiful melody out of something as simple as a safety alert.

Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, the brother-sister combo are barely out of their teens (she's 15, he turned 18 on Monday) but are already generating interest from a number of people, including failed journalist and successful music producer, Ryan Hemsworth. Rumoured to be signed to Ryan's label Secret Songs, Tennyson made their live debut at Toronto's NXNE festival, where they presumably donned fake wigs and beards in order to be allowed entry to the venue. You can listen to more of their music on their Soundcloud page.
