Pisscore Track of The Year? Check Out Japan’s Underground EDM Awards

The Lolicore, Deathstep, Braindance and Soundclown anthems you slept on in 2014 are now revealed

If you're over reading end of the year "best of" lists that all seem to be copied and pasted from each other, you've just found yourself a little slice of heaven.

Welcome to the BioAwards, an annual awards ceremony celebrating the weirdest and most extreme underground EDM that Japan, and the world, has to offer. With categories like "Best Deathstep Artist" and "Pisscore Album of the Year", you're sure to find some new, twisted electronic sounds.

The awards themselves come courtesy of Bio Hannya, a Japanese DJ with a near-encyclopedic knowledge of anything ending with "-core" or "-step". He's been handing out the prizes since 2010. A Soundcloud addict, he admits to "spending all day, or as long as possible" each day hunting down the freshest jams.

So, let's reap the rewards of his hard work and check out our favourite winner, TORIENA (aka Sae Shimizu)! Sae's from Kyoto, took out 'Best Chiptune Artist', runs a label called Mad Milky Records and produces her tracks using a Game Boy. In short, TORIENA is incredible. She also scooped 'Best Chiptune Video 2014' for her collaboration with m7kenji called "Pulse Fighter".

The live footage that's out there seems to confirm TORIENA is a complete champion in every respect.

For the true believers, there's links, tracks, and further information about all BioAward winners via the website, including the categories Soundclown/Pisscore, Lolicore/Mashcore, and Dubstep/Deathstep. Happy digging!
