For the second time this year, Swiss authorities, acting on behalf of the U.S. Justice Department, arrested FIFA officials in dawn raids in Zurich, Switzerland. Today, Alfredo Hawit, a Honduran national, and Juan Ángel Napout, a Paraguayan, were arrested. The two men are the presidents of CONCACAF and CONMEBOL, respectively. Sepp Blatter was not arrested.

Big news out of Spain: As reported by the AFP, the Spanish soccer league "agreed a domestic television deal worth a minimum 2.65 billion euros ($2.8 billion, £1.86 billion) for the next three seasons." It's not the £5.1 billion the Premier League is getting, but it's better than what Spain had before.

Liverpool came back from a shaky opening period and destroyed Southampton in the quarterfinals of the League Cup. It was a game full of fun goals. For example:

The leaders of 23 soccer leagues from around the world gathered in Paris yesterday and agreed to form an organization to lobby FIFA.
