Someone on the internet put together the social media version of those stupid forwards you used to get from your bigoted uncle, making the point that no one is paying attention to Akon providing 600 million Africans with solar power, while everyone is making a big deal about Caitlyn Jenner. The post refers to Caitlyn as "Bruce" and also, disgustingly, as a "science project." J.R. Smith and Snoop Dogg have re-posted to their Instagram pages.The reason that more people are talking about Caitlyn Jenner than Akon is that Caitlyn Jenner is more famous than Akon. Full stop. Caitlyn Jenner was an olympic hero, beloved by the entire country, and then became part of a family that went on to be one of the most recognizable families in the country. It's not that transgendered people are any more or less important than providing solar power to people, it's that more people know Caitlyn. It is great that Akon has established a solar academy with the hopes of providing power to the poor in rural Africa. But that has to nothing do with Caitlyn Jenner.
