This fall, Netflix will release two new documentaries about a pair of prolific American writers—Joan Didion and Gay Talese— the streaming service announced on Wednesday.

Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold is directed by actor Griffin Dunne, who's starred in Dallas Buyers' Club and the Amazon series I Love Dick. Dunne also just so happens to be Didion's nephew and documentary "unearths a treasure trove of archival footage" and features conversations between the two about "the eras she covered and the eventful life she's lived," according to a Netflix press release.

Through the interviews with Didion, Dunne traces the author's life from a Vogue writer in the 50s to the publishing of Slouching Towards Bethlehem and her long relationship with novelist John Gregory Dunne. According to Deadline, the film covers everything from the time the writer partied with Janis Joplin to interviewing a woman associated with Charles Manson over dinner.

"How does one capture such a celebrated and prolific author while delivering something new for audiences to engage with?" Netflix's Vice President of Original Documentaries Lisa Nishimura said, according to the Hollywood Reporter. "Griffin does a superb job of bringing us into intimate, one on one conversations with his 'Aunt Joan,' examining how her struggle shaped her work, and how her work helped shape American culture."

The Center Will Not Hold is set to premiere at this fall's New York Film Festival alongside Voyeur, another new Netflix doc about Gay Talese's 2016 book, The Voyeur's Motel. The film will follow the writer's controversial story about a motel owner who allegedly spied on some of his guests for decades, but ultimately faced credibility issues.

Both films will debut at the 55th annual New York Film Festival starting September 28, and Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold will be available on the streaming service October 27.
