VICE Guide to Copenhagen - Nordhavn

We talk to Thomas Dambo, who calls himself a “recycle art activist”, about how he sources materials and inspiration in his neighbourhood Nordhavn in Copenhagen.

In Nordhavn, an old industrial harbour along Copenhagen’s northern waterfront, Thomas Dambo is giving birth to giant wooden trolls.

Thomas, an artist who came out of hip-hop culture and is fuelled by a wild creative streak, is picking up trash from factories and building sites in his local area and turning this into public artworks. We talk to Thomas, who calls himself a “recycle art activist”, about how he sources materials and inspiration in his neighbourhood and why a sense of humour and wonder is needed in order to engage people in a conversation about sustainability and the environment.
