Lil Peep's "Awful Things" Video Is a Passing of the Generational Torch

You're gonna wish you were 14 years-old right now to appreciate this.

Lil Peep knows exactly what he's doing, tapping into the collective nostalgia of twentysomethings while recycling it for teens who maybe have no clue what "cute without the 'e'" spells. Peep has gone full high school angst in his new video for Come Over When You're Sober cut "Awful Things" and while you've never seen such a seamless merging of Simple Plan histrionics and rap swagger before, there's a lot going on in this clip.

Namely, Lil Tracy dabs while Lil Peep sets the school on fire in romantic fury, the image of which is an enormous mood.

And there's also this Watchmen-in-the-face-ass closing shot.

Truthfully, I'm jealous of the teens. Though we have the scenes and genres of several generations prior as our personal sandbox, they have the benefit of drawing from the early 00s, when the internet was the Wild West and curated Myspace profiles were the only window to a person's tortured soul. Goddamn. Watch the "Awful Things" video above.

Phil is livid but proud of the youth. He's on Twitter.
