Barack Obama and Justin Trudeau Definitely Talked Trump Over Dinner

Just a couple regular bros having dinner and talking politics.

Former US President Barack Obama was in Montreal yesterday to get paid give a speech and like most people in Canada, he organically ran into Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The pair had a quiet dinner at superstar chef David McMillan's Liverpool House, which is definitely the place to take a former leader of the free world you are trying to impress. (Seriously, the lobster spaghetti is the shit.)

The pair picked an interesting time to meet. Trudeau's foreign affairs minister, Chrystia Freeland gave—by Canadian standards anyways—a forceful speech earlier in the day that pushed back at US President Donald Trump's "America First" approach to international relations. Freeland, who never mentioned Trump's name's in her speech said Canada would pursue a more robust role in international relations and increase military spending. Her remarks somewhat echoed German Chancellor Angela Merkel's comments following Trump's G7 visit way back in May, where the chancellor suggested Germany could no longer look to the US for international leadership.

So, it's a good bet they talked about that. Trudeau told reporters Wednesday that they talked about the "state of the world," so we can only speculate about what exactly they discussed. So we will.

Definitely talking about Trump right here. | via. Twitter @JustinTrudeau

Here's everything they probably talked about.

Not getting into Joe Beef.

Donald Trump.

The proper technique for rolling up one's sleeves.

How former American presidents can demand WAAAAY higher speaking fees than former Canadian prime ministers.

How Trump is ruining the "Cheerleader effect" when he poses with Macron and the Mexican president Enrique Pena Nieto.

How a perfectly curated social media presence creates an idealized sense of self that is hard to live up to and only leads to moments of crushing disappointment while sitting alone enjoying a nice craft beer in the dark.

The kids are doing quite well, yes.

The accuracy of House of Cards.

How they both definitely used to smoke weed when they were younger and no youth-oriented media will let them forget it.

Sophie Gregoire Trudeau's cringe MLK day song.

This lobster spaghetti is just divine.

Which one of them will host a Saturday Night Live first? ("I used to be a drama teacher, clearly it is me.")

Donald Trump

The UK election.

How much they wished Joe Biden could be there.

How the Chicago Blackhawks and Montreal Canadiens both went out in the first round of the NHL Playoffs. Sad.

You think I should go on Desus and Mero?

How much it sucks that T.J. Miller is leaving Silicon Valley.

"You get HBO in Canada?" "Yes, we can."
