Barack Obama and Justin Trudeau Definitely Talked Trump Over Dinner

Former US President Barack Obama was in Montreal yesterday to get paid give a speech and like most people in Canada, he organically ran into Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The pair had a quiet dinner at superstar chef David McMillan's Liverpool House, which is definitely the place to take a former leader of the free world you are trying to impress. (Seriously, the lobster spaghetti is the shit.)

The pair picked an interesting time to meet. Trudeau's foreign affairs minister, Chrystia Freeland gave—by Canadian standards anyways—a forceful speech earlier in the day that pushed back at US President Donald Trump's "America First" approach to international relations. Freeland, who never mentioned Trump's name's in her speech said Canada would pursue a more robust role in international relations and increase military spending. Her remarks somewhat echoed German Chancellor Angela Merkel's comments following Trump's G7 visit way back in May, where the chancellor suggested Germany could no longer look to the US for international leadership.

So, it's a good bet they talked about that. Trudeau told reporters Wednesday that they talked about the "state of the world," so we can only speculate about what exactly they discussed. So we will.
