Batshit Filmmaker Wants to Play Catch with Joe Montana

The man behind American cinema classic The Room wants to toss around the pigskin with Joe Montana and that's pretty damn great.

Tommy Wiseau created and directed The Room, a perfect trainwreck of a movie that has since become a cult classic. To coincide with the release of his new TV series, "The Neighbors," the eccentric and mysterious Wiseau took to Reddit for one of the greatest AMAs ever.

If you've been to one of its famed midnight showings, I suggest with the utmost enthusiasm you read that AMA right now. But even if you haven't, you can appreciate Wiseau's many, many batshit answers spoken in some combination of English and giggle.

Every scene in The Room is a little inside joke to its fanatics (of which I proudly belong). In several scenes, male characters play catch with a football in a way that doesn't resemble any kind of catch you've ever played. Mostly, they underhand toss the ball back and forth from close distances. In one scene, they do so in tuxedos, because football must be played in tuxedos.

Naturally, an enterprising Reddit user asked Wiseau: "If you could play catch with one person, alive or dead, who would it be?" His answer:

Hehehehehehee.
Somebody would hear this would probably be laughing, but Joe Montana, hahaha!

Here at VICE Sports, we are big fans of Tommy Wiseau. He created something that has brought lasting joy to millions of people. We do not laugh at you, Tommy. We giggle with you. We want to help make your dream come true.

This is an open invitation to Joe Montana. Let's make this game of catch happen. For America. For all of us. But most of all, for Tommy.
