Robber’s Punk Represents Sydney In All Its Raw Sketchiness

Listen to songs about meth use, aggravated burglary and thuggish enforcers.

Robber's Sydney is one removed from showcases at the Opera House or public rallies to keep nightlife open. The punk band's city is sweaty, stressed and strung out. It has a lot more to do with rap sheets than Broadsheet.

The eight tracks on their new self-titled LP include songs about meth users, aggravated house burglars and thuggish enforcers. "Drink and Graff and Rack" begins with the lines, "You get scared when you're on the train, Of groups of hoodlums kickin' in ya brain, Graffiti vandals and thugs in hoods Fucking ya daughter and stealing your goods". We're pretty sure Clover Moore hasn't heard of them.

Released on the excellent Brisbane label NGM Records, the new album is available April 28 but today some of the tracks have become available on Bandcamp. Have a listen below and watch your back the next time you're on the late train to Central.

'Robber' is available April 28 on NGM Records.
