It's unfortunate that many of Francis Harris's greatest inspirations blossom from sadness. His last album, 2012's Leland, was a tribute to the Brooklyn-based producer's dad, and his latest effort is an homage to his mom, who passed away the following year. The new record, titled Minutes of Sleep, deals in wooly ambient sketches and clickity-clackity house rhythms touched with jazz; the occasional squawk of a horn, dulcet rumble from a standup bass, or smattering of downtempo piano keys is not uncommon here.
