Englishman Eric Dier Scores Spectacular Diving Header—On His Own Goal

England: the only team that celebrates an actual goal as much as an own goal.

The tune-ups for the Euros are going on right now, and adjustments are being made. One such adjustment for England would be to draw a diagram of who's goal is who's for Eric Dier—because the Spurs defender/midfielder just can't seem to figure it out.

Today's friendly against Australia should have been a gimme for England, but Dier gave the Three Lions a scare as he attempted some shoddy form of clearance that could be mistaken for a beautifully intentional diving header. Dier went horizontal as an Australian cross came his way, likely trying to get ahead of the trailing Aussie mark, only to punch the goal in to cut England's lead to 2-1.

England is accustomed to such kinds of defensive failures, like the time Robert Green bobbled Clint Dempsey's shot for the game-tying goal in the 2010 World Cup. (It is a clip that really can't be shown enough.)

Among other feelings of schadenfreude felt today, injured 26-year-old striker Daniel Sturridge looked on from the sidelines as 18-year-old young gun Marcus Rashford scored a goal in his first appearance for England—just a scant 135 seconds into his debut.
