Hampshire doesn’t have much road trip sex appeal. Something about the M3 service station and its rock hard Mars bars doesn’t quite scream Route 101 escapism. Yet, Winchester-based trio, Wild Smiles, have fashioned enough surf-rock-come-grunge brew for a VW camper van voyage to the west cost and back. “Take Me Away” is a froth of ramshackle chorus outcries and Californian-tinged guitaring fashioned like J Mascis and Mikey Love co-piloting us to some babe-laden spot on Newport beach.Wild Smiles release the Take Me Away EP both digitally and on limited edition 12” white vinyl (500 copies) on July 8 via Invada Records.
