Coldplay and R.E.M.'s Peter Buck held a minute's silence in memory of Petty, followed by a rendition of "Free Fallin'" at a show in Portland Monday night (October 2).

The National's Bryce Dessner shared a cover of "Damaged by Love" performed by himself and vocalist Matt Berninger via Instagram.

Here's Wilco, playing "The Waiting" last night (October 3) in Irving, Texas.

Jack Johnson played "You Don't Know How It Feels," in Florida.

That track was also covered, in a recorded version, by Cloakroom.

Tiger's Jaw gave a great "I Won't Back Down" last night in Maryland.

Imagine Dragons had the same idea in California.

Dave Matthews played "Runnin' Down a Dream," which Dave Matthews Band have covered in the past, to a small crowd in California.

And finally, Hanson covered "Wildflowers" in Montreal, also last night.
