According To My “Tax Receipt,” I Spent $16 on Science in 2010

. . . and that is not OK.

I know I just gave away my weak-ass barely-making-it income, but I ran my "tax reciept" thing at the White House website—which breaks down your tax money into where it’s actually spent, sort of—and the number for "Science, Space, and Technology Programs" is about $16 for me.

Meanwhile, I spent $369.25 on national defense and $341.17 on health care for things like disease control, Medicaid, and stuff. (I think it’s interesting, also, that I spent well over the national defense and health care figures on health care for myself—with insurance. Sadface. Hopelessface.)

I also spent about $25 on "Natural Resources, Energy and Environment," which is another comparative drop in the bucket. That’s odd certainly because of how much I spent on "national defense," which in the year 2011 is really more like "foreign oil supply defense" and has everything to do with energy—and building ridiculous things like this fighter jet and missile defense systems in Poland or wherever.

I get it, of course, we live in a totally fucked system controlled by entities that don’t have our interests at heart, mainly because they are not people like we are but corporations that don’t get sick and have to go to the hospital or have interest in things out in space and why the universe? because those are not things that do things for corporations. It’s all like the Matrix, man. We’re just batteries giving life to these hideous machines. No, really: it is. Sorry.
