People Are Overdosing on 'Game of Thrones' Heroin

Both New Hampshire and Vermont police believe the strain is some combination of heroin and fentanyl.

Police believe the drug behind a recent spurt of overdoses in Vermont and New Hampshire may be fentanyl-laced heroin dealers have branded Game of Thrones, WCVB reports.

Last week, officials in Lebanon, New Hampshire, responded to reports of an overdose and found a bunch of baggies with a Game of Thrones stamp on them. And this past weekend, at least ten people overdosed in several parts of Vermont from a drug with the same GoT packaging. Both New Hampshire and Vermont cops suspect the drug is some combination of heroin and fentanyl, which is much stronger than plain old smack.

"Instead of taking one dose, you're taking 50 doses," Vermont health commissioner Harry Chen told WCVB. "That's whats problematic in terms of overdosing people and killing people."

The substance in Lebanon was traced back to a man from Enfield, New Hampshire, who is believed to have supplied the deadly concoction and is now facing drug charges. Authorities are reportedly doing tests on the drug found in Lebanon to see if it matches the one in Vermont.

Apparently dealers in the opioid-ravaged region have caught onto the truism that people will go crazy for just about anything George R. R. Martin-related.
