New Motive Power's "The Escape" Sounds like Death From Above 1979 Meets Crystal Castles

It's also about escaping from a toxic relationship.

This blazing number from new Brazilian dance rock band New Motive Power is like dumping a shot of caffeine into a vat of lighter fluid and downing the whole thing like a crazy man's Jägerbomb because you don't give a fuck. *throws horns*

According to Protski, the band's vocalist and guitarist, "The Escape" is a mix of all their influences—industrial, EDM, and most of all, cheesy 80s hard rock bands (were there any other kinds?). "The track is a reference to a man breaking up with a woman because of what she did [and] finding a way out of toxic relationships," he told us. Uh oh!

Most importantly, New Motive Power fills the giant chasm left by permanently-on-hiatus Death From Above 1979 and headed-to-splitsville Crystal Castles. "The Escape" will be the first track on New Motive Power's upcoming album The Initiative.
