I went to the Metro last night to see Towkio, the latest member to emerge from Chicago's SaveMoney collective. Towkio started the night at his first headlining show on the city's North Side by popping a bottle of champagne while opener DJ Spinn and Kehlani performed for a sold-out crowd. He'd sold out the Metro in just under a week on the heels of his critically-acclaimed .Wav Theory mixtape, which blends the aesthetics of pop, hip-hop, electronic, and more into a single mixtape that took over the hometown crowd last night.

Towkio, backed by Stix and Peter Cottontale of The Social Experiment alongside Carter Lang brought .Wav Theory to life, utilizing specific instrumental patterns to morph the sound of the recorded project. His performance was packed with guests like Leather Courdory's Eryn Allen Kane, Khelani, and SaveMoney's heavyweight Chance The Rapper. Chance came out to his latest single "Sunday Candy" while also touching base with Kehlani on their song "The Way" before looping back with Towkio on the well-received "Heaven Only Knows" which ended the night.
