PREMIERE: Blood Diamonds Remixes Sia's "Elastic Heart"

B-A-N-G-E-R.

We love Sia. Julian Casablancas love Sia. Sia rules, and her career has been a testament to true talent having some longevity in a notoriously fickle industry, first as a solo star in her own right, then as a pop writer penning smashes for Bey, Rih, Xtina, Katy, Kylie, and countless others. Her refusal to play within the ascribed parameters of pop celebrity—show my face you say? Nah!—is just one example of how she's rewriting the rule book and doing so in an unshowy way. She's matter of fact.

Below is the premiere of "Elastic Heart" remixed by producer Blood Diamonds a.k.a. Mike Tucker, the 20-something sonic manipulator most closely associated with Grimes, and more recently Madonna. It's pretty tough to improve on a song that's already so spectacular, but what starts off sounding like a glitch in your dial up moves into a stuttered rework, contrasting pulverizing beats and harp ripples. And that's what they call a banger.

Sia's Elastic Heart Remix EP is out today and includes remixes by Clams Casino, Evian Christ, Kid Arkade and more.

Kim listened to "Elastic Heart" five times last night. On public transport. She's on Twitter.
