PREMIERE: Listen to Full of Hell Lay Waste to the Melvins' Deep Cut "Oven"

The Melvins + Full of Hell = noisy, abrasive bliss.

Full of Hell and the Melvins have a lot in common. They both revel in abrasion, pushing the limits of their own abilities as well as their audience's tolerance for noise, and harbor a certain endearingly trollish disposition. They're both firmly entrenched within their respective scenes, with the Melvins revered as elder statesmen and Full of Hell hailed as one of extreme music's most promising young acts, and, as it turns out, they perfectly complement one another's sounds—at least as far as we can tell from Full of Hell's grinding, pained cover of the Melvins' golden oldie "Oven."

The band explained, "We had been wanting to cover a Melvins song for years, and "Oven" had always been one of our top choices. We've always been very inspired by the Melvins on every level—a totally unique and uncompromising band that has always worked their asses off. They are a band that's undefinable but always recognizable. Totally brilliant. With past covers that we've done, we've always deviated from the source material, but this time we chose to stick close to the original sound and tempo."

"Oven" originally surfaced in 1989, as an album track on the Melvins' second LP, Ozma, and also as a limited edition seven-inch. You can find this resurrected and dissected version (as well as three new original songs) on Full of Hell's upcoming Amber Mote in the Black Vault EP, which is due out January 8 via Bad Teeth Recordings.
