The uninformed might pigeonhole Mikal Cronin as the "bass player in Ty Segall's band" but. much like John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, he has larger aspirations. Cronin's latest solo LP MCIII due on May 5th via Merge (order), shows him playing with that John Paul Jones persona, adding lush arrangements and interesting instrumentation on top of what he's probably best known for, fun and endearing garage pop.
