Love Connection came to life pretty organically back in 2009. Old friends Michael Caterer and Kobi Simpson started work on some new home recordings. Word of their collaboration spread until a friend offered them a show. They’d never planned to take their project to the public, but for some reason they agreed.
Haphazardly translating homespun psychedelic pop songs into the live context, the first performance was a makeshift stab at expression, cheered on by kindred spirits in bands like Rat vs. Possum and the Parking Lot Experiments. Encouraged to continue, Michael and Kobi retreated to a run-down farmhouse on the outskirts of Melbourne, AU, to develop their embryonic songs. Within six months they had a finished album, a supportive label, Sensory Projects, and a receptive, eager audience.
Freed from the constraints of being a duo by the addition of a drummer and bassist, Love Connection continue to explore their sound while retaining the spontaneity and intimacy of the original partnership. Thick with originality and genuine joy, Love Connection makes tracks that are instantly likeable, unique, and authentic.
