Turbonegro played at House of Vans last Wednesday and I was there taking photos. I'd forgotten that the show was happening until I drove by and saw the massive line of blue-jean-jacketed people snaking down Kent Avenue in Brooklyn. I furiously munched down a burrito and headed over to the skate park/show space and took photos of some awesome looking people.
Turbonegro is a Norwegian rock band that plays music that's a mixture of glam and punk. They refer to their genre as "death punk" and their hardcore fans are called Turbojugend. The Turbojugend all buy $130 high quality jean jackets with embroidered hats and stuff on them. The band all pretend to be gay and fetishize denim and the Tom of Finland aesthetic. They have a lot of macho songs about being gay, look great, and are a great party band. I've bought all their records, but had never seen them play before, so this was a pretty boss time.
