The Trash Wang Tour, which landed in NYC this past weekend, features an odd West Coast pairing: thrash-masters Trash Talk, and Odd Future's Hodgy Beats and Left Brain, who operate collectively as MellowHype. The show led to a strange mix of audience members as well. While some fans seemed into the high energy of both acts, others derided one band or the other and even got into a brawl at one point. Moshing and crowd surfing were not in short order for either act, which is where the juxtaposition starts to make sense. Other highlights included Lee of Trash Talk having his shoes stolen while crowd surfing, Garrett the guitar player wearing a crowd member's purse on stage (someone promptly tried to steal it once he got off stage), and Left Brain wearing his sunglasses throughout the show even after one lens went missing while crowd surfing.
