Jarvis Cocker Goes through His Wardrobe in this Clip from 'PULP: a Film about Life, Death & Supermarkets'

A new documentary about the band Pulp is in theaters this week, giving fans a look behind the curtain of the British rock icons. Directed by New Zealander Florian Habicht, Pulp: A Film About Life, Death & Supermarkets follows the band through their 2012 farewell show in their hometown of Sheffield, and features interviews and interactions with fans, friends, and more "Common People" than a temp agency. In an exclusive clip above, see lead singer and Pulp co-founder Jarvis Cocker go through his wardrobe and explain how, should any problem arise on tour, "it can be sorted."

Of making the film, Cocker told us a few months back, "Half the curiosity was to show what Sheffield was like ‘cause that’s where it all started and I’ve always thought, when I’m onstage singing. I wonder what these people are going to do after, what are they going to do tomorrow, why are they’re here in the first place. I thought this could be a way of finding out."

Released by Oscilloscope Laboratories, Pulp: A Film About Life, Death & Supermarkets is as much an ode to the band as it is to their hometown. Explains Florian Habicht, "The people in Sheffield are so understated and so generous once you earn their trust. PULP are like folk heroes to them, yet PULP are just exaggerated versions of themselves I found. Playing the farewell concert in Sheffield was a huge deal for the band – as Jarvisʼs mother says in the film “These are HIS people.” It was magical to be able to capture that event and embed it in a weird and wonderful celebration of the forgotten corners that inspired both the band and myself. As Jarvis once said on the phone to me, 'Life is a dream. Itʼs important not to wake up.'"
