Do you ever find yourself in a situation where you’re playing some slamming music and the crowd (your cat) is going wild and you just wish that the crowd (your cat) could have a more intense listening experience? Like maybe a set of headphones so it can nod its head in time with you? It might even be able to give you some feedback on your DJing skills. Trouble is, you just can’t get a pair of headphones that will fit those little cat ears.
It’s a situation most of us find ourselves in, if not daily, then at least once a week. But now—thankfully, finally—this situation has been addressed by Sol Republic in collaboration with Deadmau5‘s cat Professor Meowingtons, pHd. They’ve teamed up to create the world’s first pair of headphones designed specifically for cats.
They’re designed by digital artist Joshua Davis and will set you back $1000—but you can’t put a price on your cat’s musical enjoyment. And they haven’t shied away on the tech specs either, as they feature “Dog isolating technology” (a must) and “i4 Sound Engines, [so] cats will experience deep bass and clear highs while listening to their favorite jams.” Yay!
Is it an elaborate joke? Well, it’s definitely a PR stunt, but it seems real—with all proceeds going to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, so you may be $1000 out of pocket but at least it’s gone to a good cause.
