Jack Daniels Have Made A Live Music App That You're Gonna LoveBy Noisey Staff
Over the past decade technology has lifted our lives out of gloomy, analogue depression and transformed it into a gleaming, digital utopia. One side effect of this has been the ever increasing need to share, share, share and share some more. Share with each other, share with your friends, share with the world and share as often as you can. Playlists, tracks, videos, stories, cats, stories about cats, pictures of cats - all with the click of a button.
The downside to all of this is your expert opinion gets lost in the sea of word, video and jpeg gloop that now comprises the internet. Which is why it's a good thing that Jack Daniel's (the people who make that Whiskey from Tennessee) have launched something called the Jack Daniel's Music Reporter. It's an app you use via Facebook which creates an online magazine of live music reporting as it happens. You use it by registering for the app and then adding #JDMUSIC to one of your music related posts; text, photos, videos - whatever. It then gets pulled in and published by the the app. You can also get clever and add your own hashtags so that people can filter through what info suits their tastes.
The benefits of this are pretty obvious. Not only can you see what live music is happening in real time, around the world, all in one place. But your updates and opinions will be noticed for once, rising with the help from the app above the swamp of internet excess. Plus you'll be sort of famous for a bit as well. Which is what you deserve, after all, for all those wasted sermons you've given on the night bus home to strangers who care not a jot that the band you just saw did a 16 song encore of very unreleased, very early material.
Now you have a worthy audience for your ramblings. There are people out there who care if a live a cappella cover of your favourite song changed your life forever in 3 minutes flat. And they'll want to see pictures, and videos, so head over the app and check it out here.
