With the inaugural CBGB Festival launching in NYC, I thought what better way to enjoy it than to go see some old school hardcore. A lineup of Sick Of It All, Cro-Mags and Vision of Disorder seemed to fit the bill. I caught VOD's fist-raising, mosh pit-churning set and settled in for the Cro-Mags, when something seemed amiss onstage. After a lengthy wait, it was announced that the cops were there and the show was over. People were pissed.
It turned out that (allegedly) Harley Flanagan, a founding member of the Cro-Mags, had just stabbed two people, been beaten senseless by security, and was carted away in handcuffs. One of the victims is Cro-Mags bassist Mike “The Gook” Couls.
I guess CBGB has still got it after all these years. Here are my photos from the night.
