You loved Apollo 13, right? Of course you did, it was awesome. And you watched every installment of The Mummy, correct? Right down to that last one, because it was directed by the same guy who did The Fast and The Furious? Naam's new PG-13 video, "Starchild," creates a strange and epic combination of ancient Egyptian mythology and adventures in outer space. But unlike Brendan Fraser's acting, director Zev Deans' short film is incredibly appealing.
Deans puts together a creative and interesting story that involves the pagan "Killing of the King" ritual and worship of divinities from the Orion constellation. All the while, Brooklynites Naam play "Starchild" on top of a colossal mountain with an epic view. The droning (and at times, monotone) vocals are paired with wailing, impressive guitarwork, and the result is the psychedelic-grunge-rock n' roll of your dreams. Or the answer to your Ouija board prayers. Whichever you prefer. Bonus: There's a falcon sporting some pharaoh bling flying around. What more could you ask for?
Pick up "The Ballad of the Starchild" EP, out now on Tee Pee Records. And go on an LSD trip to one of their shows on The Starchild Tour:
