Chuck Matrixxman and Paavo Bones are 5kinAndBone5, respectively. They make ominous, expansive electronic music that makes me think about all my favorite moments from Neuromancer and then scares me because they're starting to come true. They also have one of my favorite tumblrs on the 'net. Their new track with fellow Killafornian Vin Sol (released just a couple hours ago) sounds kind of like if Plastikman was an AIM-bot that produced crispy techno instead of awkward webcam sex offers. We decided to talk to 5kinAndBone5 about it!
Is it safe?
Most definitely safe.
(Follow-up) Is it safe?
Why did you name this song "Good Good?" and how long did it take to produce?
It's technically Ebonics and is somewhat open to the listener's interpretation. It could be referring to a number of things; quality dro, good trim, a nice tune, etc. Took roughly 3 hours at Vin Sol's studio.
When girls wear tanktops, can I call them "Husbandbeaters?" Why and also why not?
Hmmmmmmm that's a good question. Would venture to say yes and that it would be a double standard if they were solely called "wifebeaters," so we'll give the double thumbs up in favor of equality.
What are you doing right now?
Currently getting a clean fade whilst preparing for a gig tonight with Maluca Mala at Westway in NYC.
Do you prefer when I pronounce it "Five-kin and Bone-Five?"
Love it plz never stop.
Will you make us a mixtape?
Enjoy the new track, alongside a few other Soundcloud selects, and if you're into stuff like this, check out my other site, Fade County! UNTIL NEXT WEEK OR THE 5KINANDBONE5 x NOISEY MIXTAPE (WHICHEVER COMES FIRST)...
