Sleigh Bells Smacked The Capitol Theatre On Its Ass With SOUND

Noisey

Sleigh Bells brought the noise pop to the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester last Friday night. It was their first show since Derek Miller fractured his right arm in a skateboarding accident in September. On stage, singer Alexis Krauss spoke for the usually reserved guitarist and told the crowd that "Derek's arm is much better."

Alongside their touring guitarist Jason Boyer, the band played a nice balance between their debut album, Treats, and their latest, Reign of Terror. Their show, which may have the strobiest stage lights in all of indie rock and a wall of Marshall amps, makes the band's material seem even more powerful when performed live.

Near the end of the show, Alexis took a denim vest with Misfits and Sleigh Bells patches from a girl in the audience, started swinging it over her head, and proceeded to wear it for a song or two before giving it back.

Touring with Sleigh Bells is AraabMUZIK, who just remixed their song "Never Say Die."

AraabMUZIK is musical athlete who pounded on an MPC controller at lightning speed for 45 minutes. Creating nearly every drum beat and sample on the fly, there's a certain artistry to it, but that doesn't stop me from wanting Cam Newton to tear his ACL so that I never have to watch—or hear—this Under Armour commercial ever again.
