The Memories just sent us their new single “Higher” off their soon-to-be-released self-titled album. It’s a light track about just kickin’ back, making out with girls, and smoking copious amounts of weed. Basically, you're listening to the Portland version of Sam Cooke's "Chain Gang." The guitar riff shimmers, and I can only imagine the flocks of cute glassy-eyed girls at their shows. With weather having been near the 70s all week here in New York, I couldn’t have asked for a better song. It’s the kind of song that makes you want to skip class or "remember" your dental appointment so you have something to tell your boss when you leave work early.

Be sure to check out their debut album for some good ol’e fashioned rock ‘n’ roll, probably the kind your parents made you to. That is, before your parents had to get a better job, settle down, and start taking care of the whiny brat now reading this article. It’s nostalgic, it’s now, and it’s lazy, just like me.
The record comes out on Underwater Peoples on April 24th.
