Play it cool Jo, play it cool. While I may have gushed a little too enthusiastically about Cohen's "Mess With Us" last week, I feel like it was justified now that this 16-track opus, Murk, has been dropped in full via Mishka. It features a who's who of production, with everyone from Ryan Hemsworth to Black Noi$e making an appearance. And they all seem to have magically gelled with Cohen's talent for cold and acidic lyrics, like, I can imagine he's the kind of guy who would answer me honestly if I asked him if I looked fat in an outfit, y'know?
ANYWAY, Murk is throwback without feeling contrived, but what's really paramount to it, is its eclecticism. It's that that's making the New York scene stand head and shoulders above everywhere else right now...and making me wish I had a visa.
