This is What Happens When Madonna Lets The Internet Ask Her Anything

Hasta Snoop Lion preguntó algo. Y algo genial.

The Internet is Written in Ink delves into musicians' HTML attics, searching to see what remains of their earliest forays online. Sometimes there's astonishing early material that has only been heard by a handful of people. Sometimes it's just them being a dick in the comments section of Gawker.

Yesterday, Madonna took time out of her busy schedule of being the highest-earning celebrity of 2013 to answer some questions posted by anonymous people on the internet. She was taking part in a Reddit AMA, which, for those who are unaware, stands for Ask Me Anything, and you can literally ask the person anything you want.

Tens of thousands of people replied to Madonna’s post, which, in a twist of wit, was titled AMAA, meaning, Ask Madonna Almost Anything. This meant that you could still ask Madonna anything you wanted, but she would only reply to specific questions, with an eight word comment about Daft Punk providing a seed for all the content farms to sow hyperbole into.

The best comments came from the posts that didn’t make the news. Like Madge playing the part of creeping chat room host and asking users to “send photo”.

It wasn’t just potential dates that were asked to send photos through. Even people who just wanted acknowledgement needed to send a personal photo. Hasn’t Madonna ever heard of Tindr? Or r/ladybonersgw?

To be fair, Reddit user Ianxt did reply with the best picture.

If anyone is interested, I checked out his Reddit account and his only submitted material is to r/ladybonersgw. However, the best part came when Madonna neglected to answer a question by replying with “send photo” for the 23rd time, and photo arrived.

Madonna did provide some answers to serious questions. Like reminding us all that despite being the Highest Earning Celebrity of 2013, she’s unwilling to book an Easyjet flight and play a small club gig for all the fans that are the reason she’s the Highest Earning Celebrity of 2013.

Reminder: Madonna earned $125m between June 2012 and June 2013.

Reminder: Madonna is the HEC of 2013.

Snoop Lion even asked her a question.

But mostly, Madonna’s answers lacked a sense of depth and information. It was like a date with a self-important debutante who refused to engage in conversation despite having her meal paid for. It’s hard, having to reply to questions that you’ve invited people to ask. But you’d think that Madonna would have employed the use of grammar. What is she, a pre-madonna?

At times, the AMA veered into unchartered waters.

But mostly, it left me wondering why celebrities engage themselves in these activities. I understand, because it gives them free promotion. But there’s plenty of other great AMA’s written by people who have woken up from comas, a guy who fought and had his face mauled off by a bear, and Barack Obama.

These people all have something interesting to say. Madonna doesn’t. But at least I got a blog post out of it!!!!!!!!
