Audio Obstacle Course test record (1967)
There's nothing like finding a semi-obsolete turntable test record with a timeless cover design. Including exciting art was a great marketing ploy to tack a few extra bucks onto the wholesale cost of a record with a very low production cost.
Op art (or optical art) is a style of visual art that creates optical illusions. This can be really interesting as well as really, really sickening. Here are a few of my favorite examples of op art used on album covers. I apologize in advance for the headache.
