FYF Fest, the annual hipster-heavy music festival in downtown Los Angeles, recently made its mark at the close of summer. As is the trademark of the festival, it was a healthy mix of buzz bands (Cloud Nothings, Fidlar, Chairlift, Twin Shadow), up 'n comers (Future Islands, Purity Ring, Wild Nothing), headliners (Refused, Beirut, Sleigh Bells, M83), and titans of their time (Dinosaur Jr., Converge, The Vaselines, Quicksand).
Even though the festival doubled this year to two days, it was packed with acts performing simultaneously across four stages. The weekend was lovely and sunny, typical L.A. Sunglasses company Chili Beans had "rock babes" blasting people with clouds of some sort of freeze gas. The second day enjoyed a looming mushroom cloud of smoke filling up the horizon (which turned out to be from forest fires). By the time the dual headliners would take the stage each night, the grounds were packed with people as far as you could see…at each separate stage. I had a lot of fun fighting dehydration, over-zealous security, and no less than six blisters to bring you all these photos. Enjoy!
