Xiu Xiu: "Botanica De Los Angeles"

It was Tatsuboku’s haiku, “I lie on my back/ and look at the clouds/ I want to kill someone”, that sparked Xiu Xiu frontman Jamie Stewart’s incessant desire to for all things unconventional, unrestrained and just downright creepy. Which is probably why the video for "Botanica De LosAngeles" is pretty weird but also pretty fearless. The track is taken from Xiu Xiu’s new album, Angel Guts: Red Classroom, which pays homage to his gang-riddled and poverty stricken neighbourhood of MacArthur Park, LA. That said, it’s probably best not to search for the album while on a computer at work as it’s named after a Japanese porno.
