Goth Money Invite You Into Their Weird-Ass Mansion in the Video for "Cuban Links"

The pan-regional rap crew shares its slightly off-kilter vision.

We caught up with pan-regional rap crew Goth Money last month on the heels of their first group album release, when they were all crashing together in LA. By all accounts, things get wild when the whole collective is in a single place, so it should be no surprise that the video for their song "Cuban Links," off that same album, Trillionaires, is a grand affair, featuring dramatic shots all over the grounds of a lavish mansion, including a few very cool aerial drone views.

In true Goth Money style, though, it's all a little off-kilter, with plenty of color-soaked effects and VHS tape glitches that reflect the music's own distorted, refracted-through-history quality. Black Kray, Kane Grocerys, and MFK Marcy Mane come through with verses in a blunt force deadpan that barely acknowledges the brilliance of their lines. But lyrics like "hundred dollar bills, my pockets sing the blues" and "Jesus chain on my neck, nigga I'ma pray for you" tweak rap formulas to fit into the Goth Money universe, and the result is dope as fuck. Watch the video, directed by Marcy Mane, below, and check out the group's Trillionaires, out now.
