Andrew W.K Has Launched His Own Political Party and He’s 100 Percent Serious

It's called The Party Party, obviously.

Image via Flickr Ever thought that the political arena was a bit, y’know, divisive? That, at the bottom of everything, our political system has been constructed from a carnivorous realm of deceit and hate – and when you think about it, there's just no vibe? Well, the answer to your desire may have come in a surprising shape, because Andrew W.K, the silken-haired party God, has launched his own political party: The Party Party.

He has framed his organisation as “an all-inclusive alternative to the traditional two party model”, meaning that he just wants everyone to stop yelling at each other and “enjoy being alive”. What’s that? Easier said than done, you say? Maybe you should just relax and take a sip of this party juice.

The news was unveiled on April Fools Day, so obviously not everyone believed that Andrew’s efforts were 100 percent authentic. But no, they are, because he said they were in a video posted to Playboy (his silent partner). He also explained his longstanding political vision in a statement released today:

“For a long time now, I've pondered the possibility of somehow getting involved in governmental politics, but I wanted to find a way to participate without compromising my celebratory philosophy, or getting sucked into a whirlpool of traditional political career ambitions,” W.K. explained in the statement. “I wanted to stay true to my vision of unifying joy, and still contribute something of value to the often distressing political landscape. Could we participate in politics and at the same time transcend it? Could we address the fundamental aspects of our shared national experience without engaging in endless dissonance and conflict? Could we work towards the liberation of the human spirit without succumbing to the temptations of an “us versus them” mentality? In other words, could we make a political party that put partying first and politics last? I thought it was time to try.”
