A Chat With The Family Rain

The Rolling Stones sounded like these huge Hell’s Angels who you should be wary of and then when I saw them for the first time I was like “Jesus Christ, they’re skinny white boys - there’s still hope"

Noisey: Can you remember one of the first times you heard music?

The Family Rain: It’s always been there, just from like The White Album to Sticky Fingers. I just remember listening to the Rolling Stones and thinking that they sounded like these huge Hell’s Angels who you should be wary of and then when I saw them for the first time I was like “Jesus Christ, they’re skinny white boys - there’s still hope.”

When did you first go to a concert in the UK?

The first concerts we went to were just like local, shows and stuff. Probably like lame Battle of the Bands and stuff. Just doing our own thing, you know. We really didn’t venture out very much, we were quite reclusive kids. But now we hardly find time to go to shows, it’s quite a strange one. I mean we’ve been on tour for the past six months or so, so the last thing you want to do when you have a day off is go to a venue, which stinks of beer again.
