This Week in Music and Fashion: Solange, Foo Fighters, Rihanna, and More

Solange is a goddess, Dave Grohl goes grim, and Rihanna prepares for battle.

Between Solange's chiller-than-chill New Orleans wedding duds, Dave Grohl's black metal sweater, Rihanna's legal woes, and Pharell's new kicks, it's been a pretty weird few days here at the crossroads between music and fashion. Here are the highlights from the week.

SOLANGE'S WEDDING FASHION

The biggest music-meet-fashion news of the week swirled around Solange Knowles' stunning New Orleans nuptials to her longtime partner, Alan Ferguson. The entire wedding party wore white (which resulted in some seriously jaw-dropping photos like the one above), and saw Solange don a Humberto Leon for Kenzo dress, Jill for Lady Grey bracelets, and Stuart Weitzman shoes. The entire weekend looked like a beautiful experience, but IMO the best part of the whole thing was watching the video of Solange dancing with her son to "No Flex Zone."

THE FOO FIGHTERS X EMPEROR

The ugly Christmas sweater trend has proven itself to be remarkably evergreen, and has picked up an unexpected amount of traction within the metal scene. I'm not entirely sure who's actually buying up all those kitschy Metallica, Slayer, and, uh, Emmure holiday jumpers, but there's got to be enough of a market for them to warrant the continued manufacture of these things. This year, Cool Rock Guy Dave Grohl (I'm only ever going to refer to him as such, so you may as well get used to it) and his merry band of Foos have decided to get in on the fun with a wintery design of their own, and in all honesty, it kind of rules. They have come up with a design that parodies Norwegian black metal greats Emperor, complete with a corpsepainted little gingerbread man flanked by reindeer skulls. Dave Grohl's love for metal has been well-documented, but some metalheads are still pissed off at his radio rock band for seemingly appropriating one of their most sacred cows to shift units. Black metal isn't exactly known for its sparkling sense of humor, but I mean, come on—that shit is adorable. Buy it here.

RIHANNA VS. TOPSHOP

Remember that time Topshop took on our lord and savior Rihanna and (of course) lost? The UK clothing retailer has just launched an appeal to overturn the court's 2013 decision to ban them from selling T-shirts emblazoned with RiRi's image. If they lose, it's another victory for celebrities who are concerned with protecting the way their image is used; if they win, though, there's little stopping the floodgates from opening. Helping your uncle hawk bootlegged Miley Cyrus T-shirts in the parking lot is one thing, but stocking a nation-wide chain with shirts like this without gaining permission or approval from the artist herself is kind of a dick move. Rihanna doesn't seem too concerned, though, judging by the beachy selfie she posted to Instagram today.

PHARRELL X ADIDAS

Earlier this week, Pharrell unveiled a grip of new designs from his ongoing partnership with adidas; this time, he comes bearing polka dots. The latest collaboration sees him put a whimsical spin on two classis adidas products—the Superstar track jacket and the Stan Smith sneaker. On November 28th, the first "Polka Dot Pack" will be launched worldwide, and features the satin jacket/leather sneaker combo with a small-scale dot, printed in red. Both jackets and sneakers offer several color schemes, as customers will be able to choose from a yellow, blue, or white base (all of which feature red dots). Ensuing packs will feaure different designs and more material options, and will start surfacing in December.

Kim Kelly kind of wants one of those Foo Fighters jawns. She's on Twitter.
