Everything Looks Better in Super 8: Here's Rush Midnight's "Take Us There"

This Brooklyn dude wants you to remember what summer feels like…

Rush Midnight - Take us there from Russ Roe on Vimeo.

Now that winter's officially set in and the polar vortex or whatever is back in town (if it's not in the town where you reside, you're damn lucky),

Rush Midnight

decided to drop this video for "Take Us There," which will transport you to the summer—when everyone was wearing t-shirts, drinking beer al fresco, and trying to surf. This transportation is offered completely free of charge and without a time machine. Oh the grainy romance of Super 8.

Live, Rush Midnight operate as a trio, but really the music comes from the brain of one Russ Manning, a Brooklyn-born, jazz graduate who used to play bass with Twin Shadow. "Take Me There" is louche and exceptionally chill—all warmly treated, several times layered vocals, and a sinuous, rich bassline. Sonically it makes total sense, that Rush Midnight's next show is at Art Basel in Miami on 12/4, opening for Toro Y Moi's side project Les Sins.

"You create and shape the dream…"
