PREMIERE: Uubbuurruu Travels to the Fuzzy Side on 'Swamp Ritual' EP

Stream the new EP in full and read the band's cryptic message!

Some people find the meaning of life in solitude, while others find it in psychedelic drugs. But for Montreal psych-rock fivesome Uubbuurruu, exploring the astral plane comes from getting down and dirty in their fuzz pedals. The band’s new EP Swamp Ritual lays out their trajectory over five expansive songs. Tracks like opener “Cosmic Cannibalism” and “I Don’t Mind” are straight-ahead, riff-heavy rockers while “Laying in an Angel’s Corpse” and “Radio Waves” approach shoegaze territory with their droning guitars and motorik grooves. The highlight might be “Dear God”, a swaying alt-country ballad that memorably begins with the line “Got bitches in my head.”

"Message from Uubbuurruu: It sure is cool to launch an EP, but what we're really hoping for is launching an intergalactic spaceship some time next year… Let it be known, once we’re done rehearsing for that release thingy, we’ll just go back to keeping watch in hopes of a Third Encounter. Crop Circles are amazing. End of communication."
