Premiere: Sail Away Into Your Own Mind with Minotaurs' "Gold Rush Lady"

It sounds like being on an acid trip on the beach.

"Third time's the charm," is a pretty popular saying for people who fucked up twice before, but in the case of Nathan Lawr it seems that every time he tries something, he's charmed. Although it's his third album as Minotaurs, Lawr has been at this music thing for a while, working as a key member of Royal City in addition to his time with the Constantines, Jim Guthrie and FemBots. But if "Gold Rush Lady" is any indication of the new direction Minotaurs has taken, it sounds like the project will feel like walking through a beaded doorway.

Inspired by In My Heart from Suuns + Jerusalem, which came out earlier this year, Lawr has taken it upon himself to create sonic kingdoms through his music. "Gold Rush Lady" sounds like a relaxed day at the beach on acid, and you can almost see the horizon dripping into a curved line in the distance as it plays. If the rest of the album is like this, Lawr's charm has clearly not run our yet.
