Location determines a lot of things about a person, and what sort of fights they need to get involved in for themselves. If you're a musician in San Francisco, it's not hard to fight. Any bar you go to; from The Riptide in the outerbanks of the Sunset to The Stud in the depths of SoMa will probably now be inhabited by those who lack appreciation for culture. It begins to infect all the nicer memories one may have of the city, forcing one to want to do something. Like start one of the hardest gazey bands ever, Flesh World.

Flesh World is a band out of San Francisco, CA that channels shoegaze, hardcore, and every shade of rock around into a prism of heavy. Their new record The Wild Animals In My Life is a marathon of extremely varied and cinematic songs that pull at different parts of your body. The album opener "To Lose Me" sounds like the backing music to a buried film from the 70's about living in an apocalypse; the guitars and drum shakes propel each punch and beat. The beauty and solid structure found in the beginning eventually gets tossed to the side when a track like "Strawberry Bomber" shows up. All vocals and melody stop for a disgusting and distorted guitar chord to ring through the song, reverberating and taking center stage. An album to fight someone to, and make up right after.
