Low Cut High Tops’ Video For “Red Lipstick” Is Filled With Panty-Sniffing Resentment

"I wanted to make a song that was really quiet, and also loud as fuck."

Before writing and recording Low Cut High Tops’ debut record, Eh, Whatever, David Burns had never sung or played the guitar. Despite his lack of technical training, it wasn’t long before he figured out how to bang the shit out of those strings and project a surprisingly powerful snarling-whine of a voice.

“I wanted to do something musically with a genre I don’t listen to and know very little about,” Burns said of his upcoming record. “I wanna show people that one person with an unusual voice can make a great rock record all by himself.”

In his new video, “Red Lipstick,” the 23-year-old Seattleite wanders through the woods while pleasantly strumming his electric guitar. It’s adorable, but we don’t have the heart to tell him it’s not plugged into anything. He probably doesn’t mind anyway, as the guy seems batshit crazy.

The song is presumably a sigh of resentment towards the taunting and nerve-wracking lips of a lover who’s more concerned with material possessions than a meaningful relationship. But, life is shit and LCHT is stuck smoking an exorbitant amount of cigarettes by his lonesome, drinking beer and appropriately dancing like nobody’s watching. Tune in below for four minutes of smoke rings, panty sniffing (seriously) and a little bit of tush.

Eh, Whatever is out on 1.22.
