Premiere: Toronto's Lais Teams with Skizzy Mars to Lose Himself in the "Distance"

Toronto's best Redditor returns with Skizzy Mars on a song inspired by a crazy night in Montreal.

If you’ve scrounged around Reddit’s rap pages you’ve probably heard about Pakistan-born, Virginia-raised, and Toronto-based artist Lais and his project, Session One. The artist's story was itneresting enough for us to talk to him about his come-up, and now he's ready to add another rung to the ladder by releasing his first single with Skizzy Mars. The new track is titled "Distance" and has Lais putting his drawl over playful bass lines and lamenting over lost conciousness with his chosen lover. Says Lais on the genesis of the song:

“The idea behind the song came from this one night where I was faded out of my mind partying in Montreal. Then after the party me and this girl went back to the hotel room and she wanted to hook up but she was trying to figure out if I was even conscious. So the whole time she kept asking me shit and all I could say was, "baby don't worry, I'm still here" because the only thing I could understand her saying was my name. It was still a fun time but the song was just to let her know sometimes I'm gone but I'm still not that far away."
