Here's AVAN LAVA's Video for "So F*kt Up"

Grindr/Tinder users beware: this could be your story.

When we first saw AVAN LAVA it was by accident and it was a total revelation. The Brooklyn crew—made up of Ian Pai, Le Chev, and TC Hennes, plus live band members Jo Lampert, Drew Citron, and Andrew Schneider—wore mesh and made sure the party onstage translated to the floor. And yes, there were confetti cannons. Which helped. "So F*kt Up" sees AVAN LAVA make a stylistic left turn away from the disco-tised, R&B good time vibes characteristic of songs like "It's Never Over" and "Let It Feel Good."

By contrast, this new single pairs hard synths with marrow quaking bass and the story of a casual internet hook up translating to a real emotional connection… at least for one person in the equation. We all know how this story ends: someone's getting f*kt up. Beware Grindr/Tinder users—this is your cautionary tale.

As for the video itself, AVAN LAVA had this to say about it:

"It's rare that you get all your favorite people in the same room and this video was that moment for us. We had tons of friends and collaborators come by the shoot and it was incredible to see everyone meet, it made the video really special. Everyone was yelling shit at TC between shots and having a great time!

"The darker mood of the video was something we hadn't approached before and to have director Cody Critcheloe was perfect. We've known each other for a long time, and to see him in his element was inspiring. He has such a keen eye and clear vision and he also nailed decorating the cake!

"It was like the world's best house party with all your best friends having an amazing time, only catch is you have to listen to the same song over and over! Usually by the end of a video shoot, everyone is completely SICK of the song because they've heard it billions of times during filming, but we knew we had made a good track because everyone was still bouncin' even on the last shot."
