Yeah, It's Summer, but Boyd Shropshire's "Every Winter" Is the Perfect Song for Right Now

This is indie rock for every season.

"Every winter's gonna drag me down," Boyd Shropshire sings on "Every Winter," but it nonetheless turns out to be a surprisingly seasonally appropriate song for summer. This makes sense, if you think about it, since summer is all about cutting loose your winter safety relationship. That's kind of what the message of "Every Winter" gets at, with lines like "waiting for you is taking too long." It's time to line up a sweet fling to, like, sit on a dock with or something. This is big time dock-sitting music, although this particular song might be better for solo dock sitting prior to arranging said summer fling. It's like an Elliott Smith song that's ready for the back porch instead of a closed room. Seriously, "Every Winter" is so chill you might just forget to be sad. Which is what this seasonal transition is all about, right? This is indie rock for every season.

Boyd's second album, Victory Weather, is out July 29 on Wonderland Archives, just in time for filling the space of all those late summer doldrums. Kickstart the mood and stream "Every Winter" below:
